Why Should I use REALTORS® Insurance Marketplace? [Series; Part 2]

Subsidy TableLast week we kicked off this series about why you should use REALTORS® Insurance Marketplace to find health insurance. We’re sharing what makes us the best resource for REALTORS®, and what sets us apart from other insurance companies (besides the fact that we are NAR’s trusted partner in the REALTOR Benefits® Program).

2. We can help you determine if you qualify for a subsidy.
Plug your income information into our quoting widget, and REALTORS® Insurance Marketplace provides you with an estimate of your subsidy available through the Public Exchange. Then, if you qualify for a subsidy we can help you enroll through the Public Exchange, too.

Even if you don’t qualify for a subsidy, you still have access to both the public and private exchanges through the Members Health Insurance Exchange.*

If you’re just curious about estimated income requirements for a subsidy, check out our chart to see where you fall. If your income is within the range for the appropriate number of people in your household, you may qualify for a subsidy to help pay for health insurance. For more specific information, shop online or call us at 877-267-3752 and our enrollment specialists can help you!

*The public exchange through the Members Health Insurance Exchange grants access to the federal exchange. States using their own state-based exchange are not currently included in the Members Health Insurance Exchange.

What you need to enroll in a health plan now

You’ve been hearing about it in the news, in emails, and maybe even in everyday conversation: the second year of the Affordable Care Act is here.

That means Open Enrollment for health insurance is in full swing.

You’re ready to enroll in a plan – to get coverage in case you get sick, have an accident, or just need to make your annual trip to the doctor…but where do you start?

For starters, REALTORS® Insurance Marketplace. We’re NAR’s trusted partner in the REALTOR Benefits® Program. And you’re here. So let us tell you exactly what you’ll need to enroll yourself and your family in a qualified health plan (and avoid paying the pricey penalty):

  1. NRDS ID
First, we need to verify that you’re a REALTOR® and NAR member. Some of the products available in this marketplace are designed and negotiated specifically for you via the REALTOR Benefits® Program, so have your NRDS ID ready to take advantage of your discounts and member value!
  2. Address(es)
This may seem like a no-brainer, but it applies mostly to families with adult children who don’t live at home. With healthcare reform, children may stay on their parents’ health plan until age 26, even if they don’t reside with one or both parents. Just be sure to have the addresses of everyone who will be on the plan, and you’ll be ready to enroll.
  3. Birth Dates
Again, this may seem obvious. Birth dates help identify members on the plan, and also tell the insurer who will be on the plan, and when they aren’t allowed anymore (i.e. when your daughter turns 26)
  4. Social Security Numbers
Every person who legally resides in the U.S. is mandated to have health insurance, and everyone who legally resides in the U.S. also has a social security number. It serves many purposes, like being your unique identifier to show that you do have coverage and don’t have to pay the tax penalty.
  5. Payment
Yes, at the time you enroll, you will likely have to provide payment. However, depending on which carrier and which exchange you use, you  may be asked to call the carrier at a later date to post a payment. You may also be sent a paper bill. Each situation can be different, but having payment options ready may help you be as prepared as possible.
  6. Tax Filings, income statements, and an estimate of your income for 2015
    (subsidy only)
If you plan find out if you qualify for a subsidy or even want to apply for a subsidy, you will need documents to prove that you qualify. These documents include tax filings, income statements, and your best estimate of what you expect to make in 2015. Based on these things, you may receive a subsidy to help with the cost of health insurance.

Now that you know what you need, are you ready to enroll? With REALTORS® Insurance Marketplace, NAR Members have access the private exchange (Members Health Insurance Exchange), public (government) exchange, AND products designed and offered exclusively to REALTORS®.
